6/15/2013: A day on the Peninsula

We started out a little late but with the extended hours of day light we made it back before dark.  We headed for Sequim, WA. to a craft fair we read about in a tourist magazine.  It was a beautiful drive but long.
The craft fair was smaller than we expected/hoped but everything was handmade.  We went from there to the famous "John Wayne Marina".  We had hoped to have lunch there until we saw the menu.

The marina was so named because Mr. Wayne docked his boat here frequently.

Very nice and membership only.  We did find a good place to eat at the 7 Cedars casino.  The Totem Grill was also a bar but had comfortable seating and a pleasant atmosphere.  Cookie had the Halibut and I a burger.  Mine was nothing special but Cookie's fish was exquisite.

We left with more money than we came with even after paying for lunch.
Something else we read about were the "Roosevelt Elk" that roam this area.  There are elk crossing with a blinking yellow light.  The male elk or bulls have had an electronic chip implanted so when they approach these crossings the light will change to red.  This has helped prevent elk and human casualties.  Unfortunately we saw no elk therefor no light change.  Bummer!
