Well it's near time for the Kobalt 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. We'll be arriving this Thursday to get settled in for work next week. Cookie has extra work this race because of a couple that couldn't make it, health reasons. We wish them a speedy recovery. I will be doing the same with the trams again. We have a new overall boss so I have been more involved in the pre-race part of it than usual.
Phoenix raceway was re-surfaced this year along with other improvements. At the pre-race meeting we all received a piece of the old surface with the offical Nascar seal. It's really cool. We both are looking forward to the race and meeting up with old firiends and making new ones.
On our way west from Texas we stopped in Tucson, AZ at the Lazy Days RV center to have some warranty work done on the rig. We arrived on 10/11 and left on 10/29. It wasn't the fault of Lazy Days, we had to wait on approval from the warranty company and then we had to wait on some parts to come in. No bother, they had hook-ups for us when our rig wasn't actually in the bay being worked on and they had a very nice lounge with free coffee, danish and wifi. We met some very nice people there that were also having work done that was taking longer than anticipated. After the race we have to go back for one more part that is being built for our large slide out. Thankfully we had for-thought enough to purchase the extended warranty when we bought the rig. It has saved us a tonne of money.
When all is said and done we will be spending Thanksgiving in San Diego. It will be a nice change from the desert of southern Arizona.
